As much as the thought comes with another unhappy twist of her gut, it also momentarily brings her memories back to something she said earlier in the night, something playful and in jest that now she finds herself wondering about despite everything:

And what if he does? she wonders. The girl he likes would be the luckiest in the world if this is how Gorou treats the people for whom he cares, for whom he feels that he has a duty to uphold. And it's tempting, she thinks, to take him up on his offer— anywhere or anything— but for now she doesn't come up with any extra ideas, instead just agreeing with a smile and a nod. Now that she thinks of it, there are places she certainly would like to take him, given time...
