[ to his credit, alhaitham actually listens relatively attentively, a luxury that the blonde wasn't often privy to. usually he was multitasking by listening to kaveh's lyrical voice talk endlessly in the background, nose in a book, doing household chores, trying to get work done - but now, he's paying attention. as it turns out? the scribe's full attention, as kaveh had come to experience in the past couple of weeks, was extremely intense.

he doesn't react outwardly to anything kaveh says except to slightly arch an eyebrow, his analytical mind wondering if the architect's mind was simply missing the filter that most other people seemed to have as he slipped in irrelevant details. details that, had last night not transpired, might've stoked the extinguished embers of jealousy back up in his gut again, but in the interests of diplomacy, alhaitham lets it simply slide past. ]

I'm absolving myself of fault for not picking up on any of it, considering.

[ after all, kaveh had worked himself up into such a highly-strung mess of passionate emotion, every two words they'd exchanged had blown up into arguments, barbed words or aggressive physicality. alhaitham's fairly comfortable asserting that there wasn't really anything to notice, not when kaveh had spent so much energy burying it under a tonne of bedrock.

but, eventual answers are better than no answers, and it's oddly endearing lounging at the bar on this lazy saturday morning, listening to the vision next to him earnestly oversharing his feelings like a dam breaking its banks. the seriousness of the topic should put him on edge, maybe; make him tense, or trigger his brain to search for the more logical responses to kaveh's statements - but really, all alhaitham felt was relatively at peace.

that is, with the faintest smug smile curling the corners of his lips and a tone characteristically full of himself; ]

So you like me too much, huh?
