( He’s not sure why he believed Kaveh would agree and wait for him to be escorted— selfish wishes, perhaps. He wants to tell him, the words burn at the back of his throat and he feels Navia’s presence also pressure him. )

Kaveh.

I understand.

( When Kaveh leaves, Wriothesley turns back so he can go back in his room. Every move seems agitated once he arrives, and he stands in the middle of it, arms crossed as he looks at Navia. )

Leave.

( He's going to be using his lock from now on. The door is shut tight after she makes it out of it, passing the latches only he would be able to pick. He rests his back against the cold of the metal trying to stabilize himself in the moment. It's not her fault, but it is. It's not like he's someone she should be needing to coddle without him asking her to. The effort, and her care, don't go unnoticed, but the timing is tragically off.

Kaveh shouldn't have waltzed in his room either, not without knocking, and of course, the main villain is truly Wriothesley at the end of it all. He deserves to go to bed alone after using Kaveh like he did.

He wakes up earlier than the alarms that morning. Showers, dresses, and decides it's only right to check on Kaveh. The heaviness of alcohol is long gone, but as much as he wants to pretend he'd forgotten it all, it's all too real. They didn't drink enough to black out over each other's bodies like he intended. As he wished.

Someone else got live that. The guy he's been hearing about lately between guards on the passing, or inmates. He's sure that's him in Kaveh's bed, both so sound asleep and spent from all the sex. He feels a hole burn through his body watching them, engulfing everything in flames he swears feel real. Sorry.

He moves away from the doorway and his heavy footsteps fade and fade on the metal flooring. As promised, he skips his breakfast today and he locks up the office. He needs to take the day to clean up the private quarters on the ship and distract his mind. Would it really hurt more than this if he were to simply look in the mirror, then Kaveh, and tell him how he feels?

After all this time rejecting Kaveh, it wouldn't be fair to then go back on his word yet again and confuse him even more. )
